Brewery folding bench

Charming folding bench that brings back good memories: village festival, summer evening where we chatted with friends over a meal. They were found in these festivals as early as the 50s. And they were solid! To withstand so many uses and still be there today! This one probably dates from the 50s or 60s, it is still very solid, the mechanisms work well. The wood is now almost natural, there are still some traces of an old caramel-colored paint. On the feet, the original green lacquer has largely disappeared. I cleaned it carefully, treated the beetle by injection into the holes and generous brushing with crystal vinegar on the entire wood (this is my natural method to replace the chemical insecticide). I also omitted the ends of the planks on one side, where the beetle had made so many holes that the wood had become friable. I brushed the metal parts to remove the excess corrosion, then I passed rustproofing (rustol, which prevents the corrosion present to evolve, without removing the "rusty" patina, and while allowing to repaint or varnish on them if you wish). One of the legs was no longer properly anchored in the wood. But the screws and nuts were so seized that it was impossible to tighten or loosen them to replace them. So I chose to drill the metal and wood to add two new screws and nuts and thus make the whole thing strong. This bench is therefore in its juice, with its patina of at least 60 years: apparent surface corrosion on the metal parts, stains and various marks, beetle holes on the wood. It is 2.19 m long, 27 cm wide, 47 cm high. It weighs 15 or 20 kg. Another similar bench is available in my shop (click on "see all products from this seller").
