Description
Rare scandinavian rosewood side table designed by arne jacobsen. Very nice condition. Arne jacobsen created the extension of st. Catherines college, oxford from 1959 to 1964. In addition to the famous chairs of the oxford series, he also designed furniture for dormitories: a desk, a chair and a chaise longue combined with a coffee table, which could also be used with a cushion as a footrest. This is the coffee table proposed here. The furniture designed for the oxford project was produced by fritz hansen under the name "st catherines". Only oxford chairs were produced in greater numbers and are now well known, the other models were distributed only in very small numbers. This table is the rosewood version (very rare) and was sold in denmark. The label of the central møbler furniture store in odense (denmark), where it was bought new, is still present under the table. Very nice original condition, some slight claws, partially refinished.
