Ceramic jug in the shape of a rooster, made of white glazed ceramic. Hand-painted decoration in cobalt blue, with gradients from deep blue to light blue. Flattened body, curved tail forming the handle, open spout serving as a pourer. The crest forms the stopper. Feathers in fine strokes, a large flower on the side, a double blue line on the base. On the reverse, the mention "Handpainted in USSR", a triangular stamp in Cyrillic, and a Soviet sale price. Soviet production, probably from the 1970s or 1980s. The blue decoration on a white background recalls the Gjel tradition, a ceramics village in the Moscow region, where the rooster is one of the familiar motifs. This carafe can find its place on a shelf, sideboard, or table, either as a display piece or a vase. The blue and white and the silhouette of the rooster can suit a country house or bohemian chic decor as well as a more minimalist interior, adding a splash of colour. Height: 24 cm, width: 16.5 cm, depth: 7.5 cm; Weight: 1 kg. Good condition, with small chips on the edge of the base. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
