We are delighted to offer for sale 1 of the 10 original vintage swivel office chairs by Charles & Ray Eames, Vitra, Herman Miller, featuring a high back in black leather. These chairs are among the most iconic pieces of furniture today. This vintage lot was designed by Charles & Ray Eames, manufactured by Herman Miller, and marketed by Vitra, with each chair being stamped and labelled for all three companies, thus bringing together a trio of prestigious names. We have cleaned, waxed, and polished each chair; the leather is in generally good condition with some light wear due to natural patina on the edges. The chrome structure has a few small pitting marks. These chairs date from the 1990s and their new price is over £3400 per chair. Dimensions: Height 102 cm, Width 58 cm, Depth 61 cm, Seat Height 47 cm. History: The aluminium chair is one of the great classics of 20th-century furniture, designed in 1958 by Charles and Ray Eames. The structure combines a stretched leather seat between two lateral aluminium supports, offering optimal comfort and excellent body adaptation. The Aluminium Group range includes several models suitable for homes, offices, and public spaces with various polished, chrome, or black lacquered aluminium bases, and a wide selection of colours for fabric or leather upholstery. Note that vintage and authentic items with leather upholstery always exhibit a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. Regular waxing is recommended to preserve the moisture of the leather. Hand-dyed leather should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, as this could dry it out and discolour it.
