Ki-e-klair desk lamp model n°18. Nickel-plated steel arms and joints. Mirror polished aluminum base with weighted raw cast iron base. Ball-jointed and clamped connecting rod in black steel. Small round reflector – mirror-polished aluminum on the outside and white lacquered on the inside. Articulated arms with non-detachable spring system. B22 socket, power 60 watts. Dimensions: height 35 cm; length 35cm; width 17.5 cm; reflector diameter 12.5 cm. Weight: 1.9 kg. Manufacturer: ki-e-klair. Design: Alphonse Pinoit. Production period: 1940. Adjuster mechanic, Alphonse Pinoit created at the end of the 1930s a double-jointed lamp allowing complete 360° orientation, unlike competing lamps of the time... Patented in 1936 and awarded a prize during a Lépine competition, the mechanics of the articulation were definitively developed in 1941. With a certain sense of humor, he then started the trade lighting brand "ki-e-klair" and affixed his initials " ap”. The parts for the lamps are manufactured in the Pinoit workshops in Levallois-Perret, then in Asnières-sur-Seine, from machined turned parts. The embossed metal lampshades are subcontracted to the Parisian company robarday. Lamp restored while retaining its history and its original patina: nickel-plated steel arm and joint in excellent condition, mirror-polished aluminum base and reflector (original interior white paint patinated with traces of time) with traces of wear and past use (slight marks from old shocks), new electrical wiring consisting of a flat black 2 x 0.75 mm² elastomeric cable and a black plastic switch. Superb patina and condition. See photos.
