Jacob J. Schuff's travel trunk

Here is a magnificent trunk, both in its exterior silhouette (almost flat) and in the recent interior design. If the signature is not among the best known, it only proves its exceptional nature. It carries with elegance the traces of its history, glued to an exterior that smells good authenticity. Superb handles, now protective (moreover unusable for transport, hooks being cut), on the sides, associated with fittings including the main brass with renovated shine, make this superb piece an object of collection and decoration. It is covered with a canvas that bears beautiful marks of time, which offers it this additional cachet since it does not alter its presence, on the contrary, it enriches it again. Amateurs will appreciate its authenticity... And will not fail to rave when opening it... The interior is indeed equipped with a nice tray, a kind of additional compartment for optimal storage. Opening it therefore provides a rather unexpected delight, and the glare is prolonged by discovering this removable interior part that creates a double space not only of the most beautiful effect, but also of an appreciated convenience. The central brass fitting, stamped with a registered trademark, further enhances the silhouette of this beautiful witness of the past by bringing a golden touch that gives it a kind of youthful air. The brand we repositioned inside, stamped "jacob j schuff" (better known under the label j.j.schuff) comes from the united states. Its founder was born around 1833. He died on october 23, 1903 in new york city at the age of 70. This trunk is therefore probably a legacy of the nineteenth century, probably before 1900, and that it is a trace of the 1870s would not be surprising.
