Coffee table by the cloutier brothers in enameled lava stone made in france in the 1960s. Top composed of 3 large enameled lava tiles resting on a black metal base. Unsigned. Very beautiful polychrome graphic composition. Very good general condition except for a small chip on the edge of a tile (visible in the close-up photo). Dimensions: width 108cm, depth 47cm, height 46cm. Robert and jean cloutier, the twin brothers of ceramics, were born in 1930 in paris. After training at the meaux school of ceramics, they worked in various parisian workshops. Robert met the master georges jouve who accompanied him, while jean perfected his skills with michel rivière. Then they both joined pol chambost, a famous french sculptor and ceramist. In 1955, they opened their own ceramic workshop in paris.
