This elegant original vintage display cabinet, likely by bruno paul, is a refined example of 1940s german art deco and neue sachlichkeit design. Sourced in germany, it features paul’s hallmark elements: finely fluted front detailing, a removable glass display frame with a metal guide rail, and a gently curved architectural form that blends function with modernist elegance. The piece is veneered in richly figured cuban mahogany, known for its deep reddish-brown tone and shimmering grain. The surface was treated with natural beeswax to enhance the wood’s depth while preserving its patina. The base has been newly refinished in matte black, adding contrast and visual weight. Inside, two glass shelves sit behind sliding glass doors, while the lower section offers ample storage behind curved wooden doors. A fine example of german luxury craftsmanship from the era. All parts are original, including the back panel, glass, lock, and key. Bruno paul (1874–1968) was a german architect, designer, and educator who helped shape the transition from jugendstil to modernism. A key member of the deutscher werkbund, he promoted combining artistic quality with industrial production. His furniture is known for its clarity, elegance, and functional details like fluted surfaces and integrated hardware. As a teacher in berlin, he mentored future modernist icons, including ludwig mies van der rohe.
