This is a classic 19th c. antique English brown and white transferware pottery plate manufactured in Staffordshire by J. M & S (John Meir & Son) (circa 1837-97). The piece is a part of heirloom. The print is called "Bessarabia". "Bessarabia" pattern as well as some others were designed specifically for Eastern Europe and the Russian Empire (Tsardom) and, therefore, considered to be pretty rare among collectors. The piece is in a good gently used condition. It shows signs of wear and has some staining and general crazing to the surface. Three hairline cracks and a small spot on the back. Dark spots on the rim. Glaze misses on the back. (shown in photos) No repair. For more information about item's condition please take a close look at the pictures. Diameter 27 cm / ~ 10.6 in.
