This original air france planisphere from 1937 was designed by lucien boucher. It is on montgolfier paper, which is extremely rare, the majority of works on montgolfier paper were probably thrown away at the time. This gives it an incomparable patina. It measures approximately 64 X 100 cm and depicts air france's flight routes of the time, stretching from europe to the far east, brazil and argentina. Note, there were no flights connecting europe to north america at this time, this route being dominated by the liner normandie. Its colors are fresh and magnificent, its condition is a+, impeccable. Hand delivery possible in paris or st maur des fossés. Learn more about the work: this limited poster by lucien boucher is an artistic representation of the world map, highlighting air france's global reach. It features banners and stickers that mark the cities served by air france around the world, with iconic symbols such as the arc de triomphe for paris and skyscrapers for new york. Landmarks symbolize budapest, montevideo and baghdad, while stylized vignettes depict local inhabitants from scandinavia to southeast asia, complementing the map's aesthetic. Boucher, born in 1889 in chartres and graduated from the sèvres ceramics school, began his career as a caricaturist for the weekly humorous newspaper "le rire". He is particularly known for his planispheres and his advertising posters for air france, inspired by surrealism and art deco.
