Flavio poli - murano - faceted sommerso vase in gray submerged glass. It is in perfect condition and I measured 17cm in height and 7.5/7.4cm in maximum section for a weight of 724g flavio poli (1900-1984) was an italian artist known for his glass creations. Born in 1900, he trained at the istituto d'arte di venezia, then began working as a ceramist. In 1929 he started working for the company "ivam" (industrie vetraie artistiche murano) as a glassware designer. In 1934 he was named artistic director of barovier, seguso & ferro (later seguso vetri d'arte), where he created a so-called "submerged" style of glassware, with several transparent layers superimposed on each other. Within three years he had become a partner in the firm. He left seguso in 1963. From 1964 to 1966 he headed the artistic glassmaking division of the società veneziana di conterie e cristallerie. Flavio poli died in 1984. Several of his works are exhibited at the murano glass museum, the national gallery of victoria in australia, and the moma in new york.
