1950s Iron Wall Plate with Geometric Inlaid Solid Silver Design

A vintage and highly decorative hand-made wall plate or centrepiece tazza made of beaten iron with a striking and complex inlaid design of solid silver, made in the 1950s or thereabouts in north africa. These pieces are generally called 'cairoware', whether egyptian or not. The plate is footed, and has a small hole in the foot to add a cord for hanging, but it can also be used as a tazza on a table or sideboard. There are tiny areas of rust to the back, but generally in excellent condition.
