Stamp on the frame from the framer and art supply shop in Lyon: J. Pouilles, Rue de la République. Small hole and a loss of material at the bottom. A remarkable still life by Charles Jung, nicknamed the "king of thistles." In the early 20th century, Jung was recognised in Lyon and Paris for his compositions highlighting thistles.
