Jean picart tapestry le doux chamber music work entitled "chamber music". Signed on the back. Jean picart ledoux (1902-1982). Upholsterer artist, painter, self-taught, jean picart le doux made his debut in bookbinding and worked for a time for a publishing house, and a little later, moved towards advertising and graphic arts by publishing his first works in the thirties. His first tapestry cartoons date from 1943 after winning the grand prix for theater poster at the salon de l'imagery. He met other artists interested in tapestry and graphic arts and they came together in 1947 to create the association of tapestry painters-cartonmakers. In 1950, picart le doux projected the idea of an international graphic alliance (agi), during the meeting with the exhibitors of an exhibition of their work in basel, two other french graphic artists, are jean colin and jacques nathan, and two swiss graphic designers, fritz bühler and donald brun. The agi was officially founded on november 22, 1952 and picart le doux was its first president. Picart le doux is a great master of aubusson tapestry, who produced more than four hundred original tapestries during his lifetime. He exhibited, among others, at the château de vascœuil, in normandy in 1974. Dimensions: 140x95 cm condition: good, note a visible weaving stitch at the level of the mask (red see photo).
