By act of may 19, 1347, pope clement VI officially canonized yves hélory by including him in the catalog of saints and setting may 19 as the day of his celebration. On may 25, 1347, when his body was raised, his head was placed in a reliquary and the rest of the relics placed in a sepulcher placed inside the cathedral of tréguier, which john V had a monument above. In his countless representations (statues, stained glass windows and paintings), saint yves most often carries an alms purse in one hand, a parchment in the other to recall his office as ecclesiastical judge. He in fact embodies the ideal of justice, preferring the good rights of the poor to the money of the rich. This is how dozens of painted or sculpted groups show it, between the 16th and 18th centuries, mainly in lower brittany. This naive statuette in remarkable condition is a beautiful example signed size 20 cm 8 inch oa2.2.
