Hello. I am offering an oil on canvas depicting a 3-sailed boat at sunrise and moored in the bay of HAI PHÒNG, the largest port city in the northeast of VIET NAM located in the Red River Delta region. This authentic and beautifully crafted oil on canvas is the work of a French army officer of the French Expeditionary Corps in the Far East, printed on the back of the canvas (CEFEO - 1945/1956) and also recognizable by its succinctly drawn coat of arms. On the back of this canvas it is also written 2/6 then RIC which corresponds to the Colonial Infantry Regiment. This work appears rather as a rarity in the field of artistic painting. In this region steeped in history, this peaceful boat accompanied by a few others behind and in the distance, dated 1952, contrasts with its recent past and seems to make us forget the tragic history of this country in the continuity of the Second World War. Dimensions with frame: 54 cm X 64 cm. Dimensions of the frame: 40 cm X 50 cm. Estimate from a Catawiki auctioneer: 300 and 400 euros (see photo).
