A two-layer crystal bonbonniere in the Biedermeier style, probably from the Egermann manufactory, made in Germany in the 1930s. The vessel is made of deep cobalt glass, with an intense colour and mirror shine achieved through the process of layering glass. Oval and round medallions cut into the blue layer reveal clear glass underneath, each surrounded by hand-applied gilding. Additional decoration includes elaborate, flowing plant motifs painted in gold between the medallions, emphasising the ornamental character of this Biedermeier form. The lid closes with a faceted, distinctive handle with a gold line detail, and the harmony of proportions is evident in both the domed lid and the wide, stable base. Characteristic Egermann cutting and decorating techniques and a high level of craftsmanship underline the authenticity of the piece. The bonbonniere is in very good condition, with an intense surface shine, no visible damage or signs of repair. The bonbonniere carries the voice of an era when attention to refined detail was synonymous with luxury. The blue glass and gold line speak of a world of restrained elegance at the turn of the eras, where ornament and proportion formed a common language of salon culture.
