Memphis style office chair by Marianne Hagburg for Ikea, 1980

This is the now iconic primary colored office chair designed for Ikea in the 1980s by Marianne Hagberg and Knut Hagberg (siblings). It dates from the time when Ikea was still producing quality Scandinavian design. In vibrant red, yellow and blue, it embodies the essence of this resurgent design style. Ideal for any well designed room, perhaps for a teenager or student, I have seen this chair described as a children's chair, but there is a smaller version for the playroom. The backrest and the seat are both adjustable. This one was left near my desk and I use it comfortably; it easily supports my (over) weight. It's the perfect gift for anyone who loves Memphis Milano style and a fantastic decor piece and it could be the perfect prop for a television, film or theater production. In excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age. The only damage I can see is some light scuffs on the front of the seat. Please see all photos and remember it is at least 30 years old, pre-owned and pre-washed. Approximate measurements: Height - 82 cm. Base diameter - 56 cm. Seat width - 38 cm. Seat depth - 34 cm. Seat height from 44 cm to 56 cm.
