Exceptional pair of Space Age floor lamps produced by Kamenický Šenov in Czechoslovakia during the 1970s. The lamps feature large spherical clear bubble glass shades supported by slender brass-plated metal columns and circular brass bases. The distinctive textured glass is filled with small bubbles and organic irregularities, giving each globe an individual character. When illuminated, the bubble glass refracts the light and creates a spectacular atmospheric pattern across the surrounding walls and ceiling. The combination of transparent sculptural glass, polished brass and elongated proportions is highly characteristic of experimental Czechoslovak lighting design of the Space Age era. With their strong architectural presence and clean geometric form, these lamps make an impressive matching pair for a living room, bedroom, lounge, hotel interior or contemporary design collection. They can be positioned together as a sculptural lighting installation or separately within the same interior. The brass-plated metal elements have been carefully repolished and both lamps have been professionally rewired with new electrical components. Each lamp uses one E26/E27 bulb and is compatible with US electrical systems.
