Pair of curved wooden bistro chairs. In line with the models of gustav siegel and josef hoffmann for kohn in the early twentieth century, then of otto prutscher for thonet in the 20s, with a backrest of curved wood in arcade that was dressed according to designers or manufacturers, veneer of various decorative shapes - solid, openwork, cut, perforated, etc. Or, for the most well-known commercial standards, strips. This setting flourished from art nouveau to art deco, and according to other stylistic elements that accompanied it, it gave rise to models described alternately as "secessionists", "neo-gothic" and even sometimes "neo-biedermeier". Here a medallion model full of horgen-glaris, as a reminder the oldest swiss curved wood furniture factory founded by emil baumann at the end of the nineteenth century. Moreover, at the same time, at baumann france we find a rather similar model, the no. 149, with medallion garnished or canned but english feet. The horgen version is totally art deco, rather neo-gothic, in any case very "bistro", with optional reinforcement brackets which confirms at the time the vocation of a material for professional use more than salon. Horgen label from the 20s under seat. Height 95 cm, seat height 47.5, seat 38 X 41 cm.
