Large pastel on fine paper signed by the artist. Dimensions: 59.5 X 42 cm. Henri Matchavariani (born 1939) is a French painter, calligrapher and illustrator, of Georgian and Romanian origin. He was artistic director in Paris and Milan. He has produced numerous illustrations for the press (vogue) and billboards, notably for Air France. He worked closely with Helmut Newton on a project for cacharel. His art is guided by the elegance of the line and by a gesture made of flights inspired by the Orient. His calligraphy traces its way in the footsteps of Christian Dotremont . An exhibition "Henri Matchavariani and Christian Dotremont " is planned soon. "Just a few traits, like an economy, like a strict necessity to the sign. Just a few strokes like a quiver of pastel or ink in the silence of my white sheets. Just a few traits, and more than that." Henri matchavariani. Henri Matchavariani is also a personality of French cinema: he has done many dubbing, and regularly appears in supporting roles, including in films by Philippe Claudel, Roman Polanski, etc. He recently lent his hand to Michael Douglas in the title role of the Apple TV series: Benjamin Franklin.
