Icons of fin-de-siècle transalpine design created in the late 1990s by the vicentine designer gino carollo (born in 1965) for the marchegian manufacturer ciacci kreaty, the “delfy” chair is part of the neo-pop italian design: zoomorphic lines, a very graphic monocoque seat and a bold color palette. The dolphin fin-shaped backrest (hence their name, “del-fy”) responds to a slightly trapezoidal seat. The whole is molded in high-gloss polycarbonate/abs, stamped on the back “delfy - design gino carollo - ciacci kreaty - made in italy”, which receives a mirror polish and captures the light to magnify the original cherry red. The shell rests on a chrome-plated steel sled base fitted with nylon glides, a solution guaranteeing stackability, rigidity and visual lightness. Produced in three catalog finishes (ferrari red, piano black and signal white), in addition to a few special series, the “delfy” chair equipped trendy cafes, waiting rooms and private interiors until its withdrawal from the catalog in the mid-2000s. Its aesthetic, between organic futurism and high-tech minimalism, makes it highly sought after by collectors and decorators today. The proposed lot, entirely original, displays a superior state of conservation: intact chrome, complete glides, shiny surface showing only slight signs of use. -- dimensions (cm): 78 (h) X 55.5 (w) X 56 (d) X 45 (h seat). Origin & period: italy, c.1997 very good overall condition: - well-preserved shiny surface, with some discreet micro-scratches of use. - clean chrome and without pitting. - glides present and functional. - no structural defects.
