Pair of 1930's Modernist bedside tables

This original pair of bedside tables were made in the 1930’s czechoslovakia. The set is a great example of progressive avant-garde design - simple yet elegant, striking and functional. These bedside tables are slightly bigger than the usual tubular models and also come with two smaller lockable drawers inside each table. An additional detail that was not very common at the time. The main design feature is the walnut wooden cube effortlessly suspended from the elegant tubular frame which then also balances a glass shelf on top. The bedside tables are in good vintage condition with some small wear on the wooden parts and on the chrome of the tubular frame. All hardware and fittings are original. Our decision was not to re-chrome the frame or re polish the wooden surface as its unique character would be lost. Instead we chose to celebrate the great patina acquired over the years.
