The center of the basin features a superb circular medallion printed in black titled L'AUMÔNE, depicting a touching genre scene of the time: a young girl from a good family offering a coin to a needy mother holding her child. The rim of the plate is adorned with a spectacular and dense cobalt blue camaïeu decoration, consisting of a rich scalloped frieze of scrolls, arabesques, and blooming flower bouquets. Characteristics of the piece: Manufacturer: J. Vieillard & Cie (Quai de Bacalan, Bordeaux). Theme: Legendary scene "L'Aumône, " a series of lively life scenes from the 19th century. Marking on the back: Splendid and large official period stamp printed in blue featuring a character in traditional costume surrounded by a calligraphic ribbon: J. VIEILLARD & CO - FINE PORCELAIN D. JOHNSTON - GOLD MEDALS - BORDEAUX. Dimensions: Diameter of approximately 21 cm. Condition: Beautiful period conservation for a piece of fine earthenware from the 19th century. No major cracks or accidents affecting the readability of the scene. A magnificent piece of Bordeaux table art and numismatic showcase, ideal for collectors of antique Bordeaux earthenware, talking pieces from the Vieillard house, or to complete a high-end thematic series.
