Hand-painted Breton earthenware tea set – France 1970s

Charming earthenware tea or coffee set, consisting of 5 cups and matching saucers, a milk jug, a sugar bowl with lid and a coffee pot or teapot with a tapered spout. Each piece is signed MBFA Pornic (Manufacture Bretonne de Faïences Artistiques) and hand-decorated in the 1970s. The stylized floral decoration in shades of green, mustard yellow, brown and blue evokes French folk art revisited in a joyful and graphic spirit. Mention "hand-painted - Sandra" under certain pieces (anecdotal but charming detail). A beautiful set for a warm table or a collection of vintage French tableware.
