Vintage japanese tea set, hand-painted, soko china, satsuma porcelain, showing a coastal scene. But the impressive thing about this set is the lithophane that is displayed at the bottom of each cup, when held up to the light the face of a geisha appears as if by magic. Well, it's not really magic, it's the lithophane technique, in which all kinds of images can be represented by playing with the thickness of the porcelain. This was a technique widely used in japan since the mid-19th century, designed above all for the european market. In any case, you will be the envy of your friends. I love the vegetal detail in the back of every piece. The set consists of ten cups with their saucers, a teapot, a sugar bowl and a milk jug. The cups measure 7.5 cm wide, 5.5 cm deep and 5 cm high. The saucers measure 10 cm in diameter and 2 cm high. The teapot measures 17 cm wide, 8 cl deep and 17 cm high. The sugar bowl measures 12.5 cm wide, 8 cm deep and 9 cm high. And the milk jug measures 9 cm wide, 6.5 cm deep and 8 cm high. The set is in perfect condition, but the lid of the sugar pot is missed.
