Gunnar Ander designed this four-arm candle holder for Ystad-Metall, a Swedish manufacturer known for quality metalwork during the 1950s and 60s. The design is simple but clever: two black iron wires loop up from the centre, topped with a small brass ball. Four straight arms reach out from the base, each ending in a brass candle cup with a turned detail above the drip pan. The piece is balanced – the sculptural black loops in the middle contrast with the clean brass cups radiating outward. It is light, graphic, and typical of Ander's approach: letting the materials and proportions speak rather than adding unnecessary decoration. Very good condition overall. The black iron shows only minor wear from age, and the brass elements are still in great shape. This style is designed to hold taper candles with a diameter of 12 mm.
