Stool and trunk in rattan

Adorable sinner's chest stool in wicker and wooden frame, probably from the 50s. So charming with its few strands of bright colors (black and orange), its pretty clasps and its label. It consists of a black skai seat, which closes on a rather thin compartment in which a compartmentalized tray slides and a wicker chest with zipper and key lock. I cleaned it as well as I could and treated it against tendrils (by injection and brushing with white vinegar). The original seat was unrecoverable (stiff and torn, surrounded by a broken studded plastic belt, crumbling plywood board). So I changed the seating board and redid the trim and upholstery with a new synthetic coating, matte black. It's not perfect, far from it, i'm not a tapestry maker, but i'm pretty happy with the result anyway. I put the clasps back in place, but the over-thickness due to the new coating makes only one of the clasps functional, the second is only there for aesthetics. This chest also has a plastic tray that fits between the wicker part and the wooden part, but which is ugly and patched up, it's up to you to see if you want to keep it. It also has a shoulder strap that I didn't think I could "recover", but finally after a good scrap, it is not in such bad condition, so it will be provided with it too. This chest stool is still solid and stable, no broken wicker strands, but it has all the small defects that testify to its age, but which also make all its charm: various spots and scratches, picketing of rust on the metal parts a few holes of spins (all treated). The 4 passers-by to hold the shoulder strap are covered with black scotch, I left them in place. This chest is 38 cm long, 26 cm wide and about 36 cm high. It weighs about 3.3 kg.
