LA MERCEDES notary's folder with flaps (circa 1900). Superb.

Superb notary's filing cabinet with flaps and a plinth that locks on the right. It bears, on the pediment, the rare and sought-after metal label of the LA MERCEDES brand. Specializing in office furniture, this brand was located on ru Lafayette in PARIS. We devour the photos of their period advertising (see photo). La Mercedes offers good quality furniture, manufactured at the very beginning of the 20th century according to the rules of the art. This one is made of oak and oak plywood. It opens with 10 tilting flaps which, when raised, reveal a solid wood filing cabinet decorated with a beautiful brass pull handle. The locker can be completely removed for full access to the documents. Each front has an original brass label holder. Note the beautiful lower plinth and a classic cornice. On the sides, we see the round brass screws that hold the mechanisms that allow the doors to open and the contrast with the wood is very successful. Finally, in "notary" mode, this column has a security plinth on the right: locked, it prevents the facades from lifting, thus preserving the contents of the lockers from curious onlookers. The key is reported but works perfectly. Some traces of wear, tiny restorations here and there but it is in excellent general condition: space-saving, stable, solid, usable as is because completely cleaned. The lockers are large enough to accommodate our modern filing cabinets. More than a beautiful box, then... The Mercedes of box makers (we find very few of their furniture today). H: 206 cm. W: 43 cm.
