Grand Brutalist Candelabrum – Germany – 1970s

Grand chandelier candelabrum on a patinated steel stand with six lights, made in Germany in the 1970s. A piece of modernist ironwork showcasing German artistic craftsmanship in metal treatment (Bredohl, Auböck, Nagel, Kiefer). Its style is reminiscent of Manfred Bredohl's work within the ironworks of Vulkanschmiede. This tall piece is distinguished by a particularly slender and architectural silhouette. Its design is structured around a spectacular central steel helix that runs the entire height of the chandelier, giving the whole a sculptural presence that evokes both modernist design and brutalist art ironwork. This candelabrum also recalls the 1980s design of creators such as Garouste and Bonetti, as well as the earlier work of Mathieu Matégot. Entirely made of welded steel, it features a beautiful original brown patina. The proportions are remarkably balanced: the side arms with their taut curves respond to the central spiral in a composition that is both graphic and airy. More than just a simple chandelier, it is a true decorative sculpture that naturally finds its place in a contemporary, minimalist, or modernist interior. Maximum height 116 cm. Maximum width 32 cm.
