Charles francois normand, large armchair of the regency era stamped. Eighteenth century. Superb armchair of the regency period, lacquered with cane bottom, molded and carved, stamped by charles francois normand. Good sitting, good stability. Charles francois normand  "charles françois normand - carpenter in seat - master obtained on june 12, 1747: carpenter in paris, charles françois normand leaves only a few seats behind him except for a few louis XV models. Parisian carpenter charles françois normand worked from his shop rue de cléry moved from the rue de charenton when he earned his master's degrees. He probably remained there until the last years of the reign of louis XV. He thus continued to practise there in 1767, when he took over the works of the estate of his colleague gauthier. Norman's works include classic louis XV seats, carved or more simply molded. The most sought after and neat set in its own way consists of an alcove sofa, two armchairs, two chairs, a console as well as a painted wooden screen, carved with flowers, staples, long rinses, knots and ribbons arranged in the boudoir of a castle near mantes. His most famous signed work remains the seat of the sick in which voltaire dies at the home of the marquis de la villette."
