Superb large beer jug made of artisanal salt-glazed stoneware, German manufacture of the Westerwald type or Alsatian Betschdorf, unsigned, antique from the early 20th century, inscription in the lid, hand-engraved 1914, probably the date of manufacture or acquisition. Nice baluster shape, large cylindrical neck, small elegant handle. Closed with a beautifully crafted grey tin hinged lid. Body decorated with floral, vegetal reliefs, friezes, and geometric patterns, very detailed, light grey-blue background with cobalt blue details. A very beautiful decorative object, suitable for collection or table use. 38.5 cm maximum height with lid, approximately 16 cm in diameter. In very good condition, some deposit/oxidation on the metal of the lid but overall impeccable, slight deposit in the reliefs and on the base of the lid at the top of the handle. Approximately 1.2 kg.
