Old large leaf-shaped ceramic bowl from Vallauris.

Beautiful vintage glazed ceramic bowl in the shape of a vine leaf, with finely modelled veins highlighted by a light green line. The polychrome decoration, blending deep green, amber yellow, and red, is achieved through drips of glazes merging into one another using the traditional technique of Vallauris workshops. The wavy, irregular edge faithfully follows the natural contour of the leaf, down to the small moulded stem forming the handle. The piece bears the mark "Vallauris" embossed under the base. Vallauris, a small town in the Alpes-Maritimes, has been a prominent centre of French ceramics since the 19th century, renowned for its vibrant glazes and forms inspired by nature — leaves, shells, fruits. The growth of this production further intensified in the mid-20th century, particularly after Picasso settled in the town in 1948, which helped to sustainably popularise the local craftsmanship. This decorative bowl can serve as a catch-all, fruit bowl, or centrepiece. Note: a small chip on the edge at the top left is visible in the photos.
