Charming tripod stool in solid wood, a very dense and surprisingly heavy wood, oak I think. The seat has a cutaway: these stools with this particular shape are called cowherd stools because they were once used to sit on while milking cows. This one was probably never used for that, the wood seems to me to be of too good quality and the details too worked (the legs have cut angles, the underside of the seat too), but perhaps a handcrafted product for family use. It could be used as an occasional stool, a sofa end table or even a bedside table, in a minimalist or rustic style. It dates from the 60s or 70s. It is in good general condition, very solid and very stable, the feet are inserted into the seat and do not move at all, but obviously it does not hide some signs of its age and its artisanal manufacture: lacks on the corners of the seat and on one foot (but they have been sanded, so no splinters in sight), places on the feet or the underside of the seat where the sanding is approximate, and various marks of use. It measures 34.5 cm in height, the seat measures 33 cm by 19.5 cm for a thickness of 3.5 cm. The width of the footprint of the feet is 44 cm and its depth is approximately 34 cm.
