Purely architectural in its concept, this side table is built from solid timber with a deliberate, stacked geometry that gives it the presence of a small monument. The upper block overhangs the lower with a precision that feels intentional, and the shadow line created between the two masses adds a depth that makes the piece appear differently as the light changes throughout the day. The deep ebonized finish brings out the linear grain of the timber in striking relief, with fine parallel lines running across every face with an almost graphic quality. Natural checking and subtle surface variation prevent it from ever feeling mechanical. This piece works equally well as a stool or a side table, and sits with authority in almost any setting.
