"Asimmetrico" glass set by Joe Colombo For Riedl

Drinking glass, 'asimmetrico', designed by joe colombo in 1964 and produced since 1968 by the austrian company riedel of kufstein. Colombo's first version, called 'smoke' designed for arnolfo di cambio has a shorter stem than 'asimmetrico', with a flattened base. Colombo later designed the asimmetrico, for use at receptions where the user stood. The stem has a longer, rounded shape that fits into the hollow of the palm between the thumb and forefinger, while the cup rests directly on the back of the hand, allowing the hand to open and turn without tipping the glass. The glasses are in excellent condition with no signs of wear. Each glass is engraved with both the name of the designer and the name of the company (see photo). Drinking glass, 'asimmetrico', clear glass, with tall cylindrical mould-blownbowl and asymmetrical solid stem attached to one side of the bowl, the stem cast in two halves, the casting seam visible.
