A rare antique french "presse-viande" or meat press, dating from the early 20th century. A fabulous eco-friendly, kitchen tool. Designed for minute steaks, escalope de veau, veau milanaise, cordon bleu etc. It is an easy and efficient way to make burgers and steak haché without the need for rolling pins and cling film. Ideal for any meat that benefits from flattening before cooking. Branded "titan a vis". It's a super stylish french country kitchen accessory, looks great from every angle. Made from cast iron with steel it is small and heavy, weighing 1.94 kgs/ 4.27 lbs! The hinged "screw" thread folds down to open the press and then once closed the threaded bar will tighten the press to squeeze the meat. It is cleverly angled downwards towards the "drain" scoop at the back, where the juices drain away. When closed it it measures - 14cms/5½" X 11cms/ 4¼" X 16.5cms/ 6½" Open length - 38cms/ 15" Actual press area - 7.5cms X 7.5cms/ 3" X 3" It is in amazing condition, perfectly clean and usable, with a genuine authentic patina. It will need a scrub before use, by hand with a mild detergent.
