A rare and sculptural ceramic table lamp known as 'Törsö gumman' (The round lady from Törsö) designed by Thomas Hellström for Nittsjö Keramik, Sweden. This exceptional and playful lamp base is a wonderful example of Scandinavian mid-century modern ceramics, distinguished by its charming voluptuous anthropomorphic form. The lamp subtly resembles a stylized female figure, with softly rounded contours that give the piece a distinctive sculptural presence. The lamp is finished in one of Thomas Hellström's most striking glazes: a rich, deep brown glaze with white details. The textured matte base has an almost burnt ochre-like appearance, creating a sophisticated interplay between glossy and raw surfaces that feels remarkably contemporary. Both unusual, functional, and highly decorative, the lamp possesses the qualities of a ceramic sculpture as much as a lighting object. Whether placed on a side table, console, or bedside, it serves as a striking focal point and complements interiors ranging from Scandinavian and mid-century modern to contemporary spaces. The lamp has been newly rewired and is currently fitted with a European (EU) plug, suitable for Sweden and many other EU countries. Upon request, a US or UK plug can be provided free of charge. The lamp requires one E27 bulb (not included). Lampshade not included. Condition: Very good. Light wear consistent with age and use.
