Small Old Ashtray In White Opaline Glass With Gilt Bronze Foot and Rim

Period: ca. 19th century a small refined ashtray in white opaline glass. It has a gilded bronze foot in the shape of acanthus leaves as well as a frieze around the edge. A cigarette holder is attached to the edge. Opaline glass is a semi-crystal glass whose translucency is created by the addition of tin phosphates and bone or ash. Opaline glass was almost exclusively made in france in the 19th century. Century italy took over in the 20th century with the majority of mass-produced products. Condition: good. No damage. Dimensions: 6.5 cm high, 7.5 cm wide with stand, 6.5 cm diameter, 230 g.
