Antique oak mirror carved baroque style

Date: late 19th century. This large rectangular mirror has a frame that has been hand-carved in thick oak and features acanthus leaves and pierced scrolls. The style is a nod to the louis XIV style. The frame is wide and convex; it will not be flat against the wall. This mirror was probably produced at the end of the 19th century, when historical eclecticism was in vogue, and probably originated in northern france or belgium. There is a cable to hang it in an upright position. The mirror glass is beveled, which is always a sign of superior quality. Status: good. The glass of the mirror has small oxidation spots as expected for an antique mirror. Dimensions: 99 cm high, 69 cm wide, 9 cm deep, 8 kg.
