Charming glazed stoneware fondue pot, decorated with the famous thistle motif dear to the potter Daniel Étienne, a discreet but recognized figure of the Vallauris ceramic scene in the 60s and 70s. Made of slightly chamotte stoneware, this fondue pot has a beautiful textured and speckled appearance, typical of the natural clays used in Vallauris at that time. These small surface irregularities (grains, inclusions, glaze variations) add all the charm to the workshop's artisanal productions. The natural hues - sage green, grayish mauve, deep brown for a handcrafted piece full of poetry, emblematic of this period when Vallauris shines thanks to its many independent workshops. Unsigned, as is often the case on his serving pieces, but attributable without hesitation to Daniel Étienne by the decoration and style. Mention hand decoration. Good condition, no defects. Diameter 12 cms. Height 4 cms.
