Empire armchair in mahogany – 19th century. Elegant Empire period armchair in mahogany, resting on four saber legs at the back and curved front legs. French work from the early 19th century. Description. This armchair features a sober and refined structure, typical of the Empire style: Slightly curved backrest, framed by straight mahogany uprights. Scroll arms resting on curved supports. Sober and elegant apron. Curved front legs, saber back legs. Beautiful warm and shiny patina highlighting the wood grain. The seat and backrest are upholstered in green fabric with fine vertical stripes. The upholstery is in place, of a later period, with peripheral piping. Condition. Structure is sound and stable. Beautiful old patina with signs of use consistent with age. Fabric shows marks, wear, and small visible stains (see photos). Some light rubbing and small knocks on the wood.
