3174 – pair of bookends – hippolyte moreau (1832-1926) known as franjou – early 20th century early 20th century, this delightful pair of bookends signed “franjou”, pseudonym of the french sculptor hippolyte moreau (1832-1926), in good condition. They are in spelter patinated bronze over time with their glass eyes on a white veined pink marble base. They represent a blackbird with an erect tail and dangling wings, a usual attitude for this turdid. They have been perfectly preserved despite a tiny chip on a corner of one of the bases with their period protective paper. Height 165mm X 149mm X 79mm. Weight of 2 bookends 2200 g. Careful and tracked shipping.
