Set of 2 pressed glass vases from the Hermanova Hut glassworks, Sklo Union. Design: Frantisek Peceny (1920 - 1977) Model No. 20245/180 and 20245/230 from 1972. Both vases are transparent but their glass shades are different, probably due to slightly different manufacturing periods (see photos). Bubbles and traces inherent in the glass manufacturing may be present. Dimensions: The smallest: Height 18 cm X diameter 7 cm. The largest: Height 23 cm X diameter 8 cm. In very good condition. *** About Frantisek Peceny: Peceny belongs to the first generation of glassmakers, who started working with pressed glass after the war. He studied at the Prague School of Arts and Crafts. In 1947, he became an artist at the Hermanova hut, which later became the Glass Union. From the very beginning, he tried to give pressed glass an artistic value that would distinguish it from imitation cut glass. This designer's creations are characterized primarily by the use of the optical quality of glass. He uses simple surfaces and then adds various lens effects. In the 1970s, as a master of decoration, he applied relief decoration, particularly floral ornamentation. František Pečený had a serious accident in the mid-1960s, losing an eye. After recovering, he returned to work. František Pečený's pressed glass has been exhibited at Expo 58 in Brussels, the Czechoslovak Glass Exhibition in Moscow in 1959, and the Czech Pressed Glass Exhibition in Gottwald in 1972. *** Careful shipping or free hand delivery is possible in Paris.
