Ancient Moorish ceramic testa di moro, the historical effigy of Caltagirone in Palermo that celebrates the legend of undefeated and fatal love - in the style of Romeo and Juliet - during the Arab conquest of Sicily. Here is an old vase, from around 1950, with a wonderful poetic dimension opposed to the mass-produced painted items intended for the tourism industry. Here, there are no plump lips and almond-shaped eyes identically attributed to all series productions - whether a girl or boy's head - today's souvenirs. Here is an Ottoman face, delicate, unique, and mischievous, crowned under a tied and striped turban, a wedding gift from the 1950s, preserved by the same family since its purchase in Caltagirone. There is a small chip on the edge of the turban to the left in the image. Spectacular with flowers, herbs, or branches! Height 30cm. Diameter 20cm. Tradition holds that the Moorish vase is given as a wedding gift, bringing luck for eternal love.
