Art Deco pedestal table

Art deco pedestal table with arched tripod base in solid oak. Originally this piece of furniture was not of good quality because it was just nailed, there were many traces of sawing and did not have feet under the base. To restore it, I proceeded according to the following steps: I completely disassembled it and then stripped the old finish. I made an enture on the base (action of replacing damaged wood by a piece of the same healthy species) I glued the tray and its support. I created fake studs in the lower part of the feet and mortises in the triangular oak piece to reinforce the structure. I made three pieces of oak under the tray to hold the upper part of the base. I reworked the three arched feet with a grater and scraper to remove all the old traces of sawing. I designed six feet half spherical. I sanded the whole with abrasives of different grains, first with an eccentric sander and then by hand, essential step to have a clean and smooth surface. I applied different finishing products for the protection and final appearance of the furniture, two layers of fondur (product used as a primer), two layers of shellac (patina based on wax and natural resin) and three layers of wax to patina, with a very fine steel wool ginning between each layer. – finally, I polished the furniture with different materials (cotton, wool and vegetable brush). He is now back for a new life and ready to embellish an entrance, a living room or a bedroom.
