Good vintage condition, ( patina ) Jean jaffeux (1931-2015) Self-taught, he painted his first canvas at the age of 15, inspired by the work of his father, a renowned painter, illustrator and engraver. Like his father, he tried his hand at drawing and more particularly advertising and illustration drawings. The meeting with the director of the enamelled lava workshop in mozac, in the puy de dôme, pushes him to take an interest in this technique as a decorative painter and under the gaze of jean borel, another famous auvergne enameller. Later, he set up his own business. Jean jaffeux is a fan of the unique piece, made in a single firing. He is, in france, the enameller on lava who has, to his credit, the most achievements in enamelled lava in the field of sacred art: altars, stations of the cross...: st ours-les-roches, brassac-les-mines, vergheas, le vernet la varenne, riom (st amable church and marthuret church), murat-le-quaire, notre dame de la route, ...
