Very nice chawan bowl in signed sandstone. Japanese tea art. The "chawan", a ceramic bowl for drinking powdered green tea called matcha, is considered the most important object of this traditional ritual influenced by zen buddhism. Appearance and shape simple and primitive as two hands that meet, the chawan is a real object of art. The bowl, like an abstract sculpture is to be restored, several feles, missing.
