Antique oak barley twist pedestal / plant stand – 109 cm height
A solid oak barley twist pedestal dating from the early 20th century, circa 1920. The finely turned Solomonic column rises from a substantial stepped plinth. The proportions are particularly strong: tall and architectural at 109 cm, yet visually grounded by the layered square base. The top has a framed, inset central panel, a traditional detail often seen in revival furniture of the late 19th and early 20th century. The pedestal is finished in a rich dark stain with protective lacquer, enhancing the depth of the grain and the dynamic twist of the column. The stepped base construction and visible panel joints reflect period craftsmanship rather than later mass production. Suitable as a plant stand, sculpture pedestal or architectural accent in both classic and contemporary interiors. Good vintage condition. Surface stained and lacquered. Visible wear, minor marks and small age-related separations in the base consistent with age and use. Structurally stable.
