In Spain during the 1960s-1970s, the Tramo house, founded by Catalan designer Miguel Milà, embodies a revival of industrial design in Barcelona. It is in this momentum that Joan Antoni Blanc, born in Tortosa in 1940 and a figure of the Eina school, imagined this mushroom-shaped floor lamp: a deep navy blue lower stem, a chrome upper rod, and a wide white methacrylate shade that plays on the contrast of materials and colours. The height is adjustable thanks to a discreet mechanism placed at the centre of the stem, a technical detail that reflects the care given to ergonomics at that time. The Spanish design of this generation, long overshadowed by its Scandinavian and Italian neighbours, has recently seen a true resurgence among enthusiasts of period pieces. The shade shows no cracks or significant yellowing, and the adjustment mechanism as well as the two chain switches function normally. Designer: Joan Antoni Blanc (Tortosa, 1940) Publisher: Tramo (Barcelona, Spain) Model: mushroom floor lamp, trumpet base. Origin (country): Spain. Period: late 1960s (circa 1968-1970) Materials: lacquered metal, chrome steel, methacrylate. Dimensions: H 185 cm (adjustable) × Ø 44 cm (shade).
